The West of Scotland outfit formed in 2013 and have enjoyed widespread praise from press and tastemakers including Bella Union honcho Simon Raymonde. This acclaim spread out with the UK gaining the quartet radio plays internationally including the US.
The band comprises of twin sisters Chloe Van Thompson (vocals, guitar) and Hannah Van Thompson (vocals guitar) alongside Joanne Forbes (bass) and Shaun Hood (drums).
Their songs are as invigorating when it comes to a new breed of alternative sonance as you could hope for. Rapturous surf-pop with rock swagger balanced by sugar-pop harmonies has resonated with a legion of new fans. With influences ranging from First Aid Kit, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Pixies to Wolf Alice, this quartet are the new smell of teen spirit.
Last year, Festival Republic together with PRS Foundation, announced the pioneering programme ReBalance which saw The Van T’s reach the final 10 in order to be matched with a female producer mentor.
The Van T’s have also appeared at Live At Leeds, TRNSMT & Communion Festival not to mention gained support slots with the likes of The Jesus and Mary Chain, Wolf Alice, Honeyblood and Sunflower Bean.
